AMD to kill off the ATI brand name
AMD has finally decided that it is time to kill off the ATI brand name. The chip maker acquired the graphics company ATI years ago, but continued to release new graphics cards under the ATI brand name. What this meant was that you could buy a computer with an AMD CPU and an ATI GPU. But that is going to change.

AMD has no intention to rename existing graphics cards, but in future it will not release GPUs under the ATI brand name. AMD will, however, continue to use the Radeon and FirePro names associated with ATI graphics cards.
