Asus unveils Eee Pad EP121 and EP101TC tablets with Intel CULV processors and Windows 7
Asus has taken the covers of its brand new Eee Pads. The tablets are available in two configurations. The 12 inch Eee Pad EP121 is feature-rich. It can serve as an e-reader, a multimedia player or a compact computing device. The Eee Pad EP121 is powered by an Intel CULV Core 2 Duo processor. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.
For text input the tablet supports two options. There is an embedded virtual keyboard. There is also a hybrid keyboard/docking station that will come handy when you need more tactile feedback to your typing. Asus claims that the tablet will get around 10 hours of runtime.
The second model – the Eee Pad EP101TC – has a 10 inch display. It runs Windows Embedded Compact 7.
Update
The Engadget team had some hands-on time with the tablets and they found the machines barely functional. They also found the to be incredibly well built with aluminum edges and matte back covers. The EP121 was shown off with a super sleek keyboard docking station, but it wasn’t booting at all.
The NVIDIA Tegra-powered EP101TC was powering on, but its Windows Embedded Compact 7-based interface was seemed buggy. From what we have seen, it looks like, Asus has to sort many things out before bringing the machines to the market.
