Dell’s Vostro 3000 series is the latest laptop lineup to get a Sandy Bridge update. The 13-, 14-, 15- and 17.3 inch Vostro 3000 series laptops are now available with a choice of Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. They still sport the same aluminum casing, backlit keyboards and matte displays. Among the new features are SRS Pro sound, HD webcams, and new chiclet style keyboards.

The most impressive feature, of course, is the pricing. The new Vostro 3000 series doesn’t cost more than $600. All four models are available with a selection of Intel Core i5 processors, up to 8GB of RAM, various HDD or SSD options and six and nine-cell batteries. The 17.3 inch Dell Vostro 3750 model is also availale with a quad-core Core i7 processor.

Pricing
The 13 inch Dell Vostro 3350 will have a starting price of $599. The 14 inch Vostro 3450 and 15 inch 3550 both start at $499. The 17.3 inch Vostro 3750 start at $549. Of course, higher-end configurations will carry higher price tags.

The Intel Sandy Bridge based Dell Latitude E series business notebooks are now available for purchase. The new Latitude E series includes the budget-friendly Latitude E5420 and E5520 and the business-rugged Latitude E6420 and E6520 notebooks.

The 14 inch Dell Latitude E5420 and the 15.6 inch Latitude E5520 notebooks are available with your choice of a 2nd generation Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics, up to 8GB of RAM and up to 500GB of storage space. Alternatively, you can opt for a 128GB Solid State Drive.

The Latitude E6420 and E6520 are business-rugged notebooks. They have 14 inch and 15.6 inch displays respectively. Both notebooks support optional two-finger multitouch functionality. The Latitude E6520 is also available with a full HD screen option, a quad-core Core i7 processor options and NVIDIA NVS 4200M discrete graphics with Optimus automatic graphics switching technology. Both laptops are available with up to 500GB HDD or a 256GB SSD.

All models in the Latitude E series have DVD optical drives, webcams and various connectivity options. They run Windows 7 operating system.

Pricing and availability

The Dell Latutide E5420, E5520, E6420 and E6520 are now available for purchase from Dell Small Business online store. While the Latitude E5420 and E5520 start at $889.00 and $922.00 respectively, the Latitude E5520 and E6520 runs $1040.00, and $1090.00, respectively.

Dell has launched two new XPS notebooks. The Dell XPS 15 L502x and the XPS 17 L702x both have Intel’s 2nd generation Core i series processors and NVIDIA GeForce 500M series discrete graphics. The XPS 17 is also available with an optional 3D-capable display.

The 15.6 inch XPS L502x and the 17.3 inch XPS L702x feature optional NVIDIA Optimus graphics and optional full HD displays. Select models are also available with Intel Wireless Display technology and built-in TV tuner.

Dell says that the new XPS 15 and XPS 17 notebooks are not affected by Intel Sandy Bridge chipset issue.

Pricing and availability
The new Dell XPS 15 L502x and XPS 17 L702x start at $1,049.99 and $899.99 respectively, at Dells official online store. Shipping is expected to start on March 15th.

Microsoft Store now sells the Dell Inspiron Duo convertible tablet style netbook for $399. At that price, it is not a bad deal, because the Inspiron Duo has a dual core processor and an HD display. On the flip side, the Duo isn’t more powerful than a typical netbook. Worse still, it gets only around 2.5 hours of battery life.

The Inspiron Duo has a 10.1 inch capacitive multitouch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It is powered by a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 processor. Other specifications include 2GB of RAM, a 320GB, 7200rpm hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium and WiFi 802.11b/g/n. The laptop also has 2 USB ports, a 4-cell battery and 1 megapixel webcam.

The most interesting thing about the Inspiron Duo is it’s unique design. Sure, convertible laptops have been around for a while, but this thing is different. It has a display that rotates inside the lid. When the display faces inward, the Duo is like any other netbook. Now try rotating the display until it faces upward and close the lid. The computer is now a tablet.

The Inspiron Duo launched with a $549 price tag a few months ago. Although the concept was interesting, the computer got lousy reviews, primarily because of the high price tag and poor battery life. Now that prices have dropped, the Duo shouldn’t have much difficulty finding buyers.

Dell introduced a whole line of laptops and desktops yesterday. Of these the Latitude E5420 and E5520 are aimed at budget-minded mobile professionals. They start at $859.

The Latitude E6220, E6320, E6420 and E6520 ATG are rugged business notebooks. They sport Intel’s 2nd generation Sandy Bridge core series processors and backlit keyboards. The rugged Latitude E6000 series has highly durable displays and MIL-STD tested Tri-Metal casing. They also feature the Free Fall Sensor to protect the laptop against drops.

Among the mobile workstations, the Precision T6100 desktop replacement laptop is the most interesting. It is available with 2nd generation Intel Core / Xeon processors and AMD / NVIDIA graphics. The Precision T6100 starts at $840. It has also got dual digitizer multitouch displays for both pen and finger inut.
