MSI has introduced a new gaming laptop called the MSI GX680. The 15.6 inch machine has a quad-core Intel Core i7 2630QM processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics with 1GB of GDDR5 video RAM, up to 16GB of memory, dual hard drive bays and a Blue-ray combo drive or DVD burner.

The MSI GX680 is available with either a 1920 x 1080 or 1366 x 768 pixels display. It also features the Turbo Drive Engine which allows a user to overclock the processor by pressing the Turbo Button. Other specifications include TNX TruStudio Pro audio technology and chiclet-style keyboard.

The MSI GX680 sports an attractive design with LED lights embedded on both sides of the notebook and in front of the keyboard. The gaming rig also has a 720p webcam, WiFi, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, HDMI, VGA outputs, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, an eSATA port and a 5-in-1 media card reader.

The MSI GX680 comes standard with a 9-cell battery. It runs Windows 7 operating system. No word on pricing or availability.

MSI’s AMD Fusion-based CR650 notebook has started shipping. Precisely it has an AMD Zacate E-350 processor which comes bundled with Radeon HD 6310 discrete graphics. Other specifications include HDMI output, 720p webcam and SRS Premium sound. The notebook features dedicated media keys above the keyboard. It can play 1080p HD video playback, thanks to the powerful Radeon graphics.

The MSI CR650 has a 15.6 inch widescreen display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It features MSI Exclusive ECO Engine Power Management System. Prices start at $499.99.

MSI has released the official press release for its upcoming Wind U270 laptop with AMD Zacate processor. The machine was on display at CES in January, but back then few details were available.

The MSI Wind U270 has a 12.1 inch display. It is powered by a 1.6GHz AMD Zacate E-350 dual core processor with AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics. The notebook supports up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM and up to 320GB of disk space. Other specifications include a 720p webcam, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and HDMI output. The 12.1 inch display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

The MSI Wind U270 will be available with 3 or 6 cell battery options. It will run Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The laptop also features the Easy Face software which will let users to login to Windows by pointing their face at the camera. No word on pricing or availability at the moment.

The AMD Fusion Zacate platform has already established itself as the preferred processor option for ultraportable notebooks. The AMD Fusion processors are highly power efficient and deliver significantly better performance than Intel’s Atom processors. Now the 18W processors are making their way into budget 15.6 inch systems as well. Toshiba recently introduced its Satellite C655D with the Zacate chip, and now MSI has done the same.

The company has just announced its 15.6 inch CR650 notebook with AMD’s latest Fusion APU. Precisely, it has a Zacate E-350 CPU that comes bundled with Radeon HD 6310 graphics. It will be able to handle full HD playback and light gaming. Other specifications include a DVD drive, six-cell battery, DDR3 RAM, up to 500GB hard drive, HD webcam, and speakers with superior SRS sound technology.

The MSI X-Slim notebooks are known for their svelte profiles, but their low voltage processors didn’t always deliver the desired performance. But now it looks like MSI has ditched Intel’s low-voltage processors in favour of AMD’s more powerful Fusion processors.

The company has just announced a new X-Slim X370 notebook with AMD’s new Fusion E-350 Zacate processor and the Radeon 6320 graphics that comes bundled with it.

Like its predecessors, the new MSI X370 measures just 0.8 inches in thickness and weighs 3.8 pounds. It has a 13.4 inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Other specifications include up to 320GB of hard drive space and up to 4GB of RAM.

The MSI X370 is expected to ship sometime this spring. There is no word on pricing, but one thing is certain: With its AMD Fusion processor, the MSI X370 will deliver much better performance than the MSI X350 which had a Core 2 Duo processor although it is not clear whether it will get the same battery life. The X350 lasted 7 hours on a single charge. Because the Zacate processor is equally power efficient the X370 is expected to get the same decent battery life.
