India’s $35 tablet will be manufactured by HCL Technologies, India government has announced. The first batch of the Android tablets are scheduled to be available by January 10th. The initial models will sport a 7-inch display. Tablets with 5-inch and 9-inch displays are also planned for launch at a later date.

India government is building these tablets for students. It is not clear whether $35 will be the retail price.
