The Intel Core i7 970, which is the first non-Extreme six-core processor, has started showing up in online retail stores. UK retailer Digital Fusion, for instance, is listing the 3.2GHz processor for the local equivalent of $921.

The Core i7 970 processor is based on the 32nm Gulftown architecture which reportedly has 12MB of cache.
It is compatible with most existing mainboards, though some may require BIOS updates. The chip also features the Turbo Boost technology that will help it achieve a maximum processing speed of 3.46GHz.

The Core i7 970 processor is expected to be available in American stores by the end of this month.
