Intel Releases X25-V 40GB SSD for $125
Intel newest 40GB Solid State Drive will sell for $125. The 2.5 inch disk dubbed X25-V is meant for use in netbooks and notebooks. You can also use it as a boot drive for your desktop PC.
SSD prices are falling. Last week we heard about OCZ releasing a sub $100 32GB SSD. Sure, you can get a 1TB hard drive for considerably less, but SSDs are better than conventional hard drives in many respects. They are more durable because they do not have moving parts. SSDs are also faster. The exact speed, however, varies from model to model.
The new Intel X25-V Value SATA SSD can reach read speeds up to 170MB/s and write speeds up to 135MB/s.
