Notion Ink has released the detailed specs for its upcoming Adam tablet PC. The Adam tablet is one of the first devices to use a Pixel Qi display which can operate in two modes – a full color mode and a high contrast, almost black and white mode.notion-ink

The Notion Ink Adam tablet is based on a NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset which combines a low power ARM A9 processor with high capacity NVIDIA graphics. The device is capable of 1080p video playback. Other specifications include WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, A-GPS and an accelerometer. There are 3USB ports and an HDMI port. There is also a swiveling 3.2 megapixel web camera. The tablet will ship with a 3-cell battery which should be able to power the device for up to 16 hours on a single charge. And by turning the backlighting off you will be able to get more uptime.

The Adam tablet measures half an inch in thickness and weighs around 1.4 pounds.

Better than iPad?
Well, that is too early to predict. The biggest strength of the Apple tablet is the multitude of iPhone applications it can run. Notion Ink certainly doesn’t have such a vast apps pool. But it has its plus points too. For one thing, it seems to be able to run Adobe Flash. It isn’t quite clear how, because Adam tablet runs Google Android which doesn’t support Flash officially. Looks like Notion Ink has some neat hacks up its sleeves.
