Well, sort of—Vizio, the Irvine, California–based consumer electronics company, announced at this year’s recently-wrapped CES its intention to enter the Ultrabook and laptop market. However, don’t call their beautifully-designed ultraportable laptops an Ultrabook. Although Vizio promises to have specs that exceed Intel’s definition of what constitutes an Ultrabook, Vizio has chosen to go with the “Thin + Light” name.
MSI has announced two new laptops that target the gaming community: the GT783 and the GT783R. The two laptops have almost identical specs, and MSI promises that either one is capable of running all of the new PC gaming titles on the market, including the very popular Skyrim.
Last week we told you about the HP Spectre and the teaser trailer the company released to set the tone for its new Ultrabook. The Spectre—or, officially, the HP Envy 14 Spectre—was unveiled this week at the 2012 International CES in Las Vegas.
There is already talk of a new Windows OS looming on the horizon. As sure as night follows day, users of Windows 7 will eventually make the switch to Windows 8. It’s not a matter of if, but of when.
There are over 1 billion computers currently running globally. Take a moment to digest that number. Apple’s share is about 5 percent. What does this mean? Over 900 million computers currently run some version of Windows. There is no question that the upcoming version of Windows will become the dominant OS globally. It is inevitable.
What remains to be seen is if it will also become the OS of choice for tablet users. The stars seem to be aligning, however, and if recently demoed devices are any indications, there may be one OS to rule them all.
