Samsung is all set to release a kid-friendly version of its N150 netbook. The press release issued by the company during CeBIT this week claims that the N150 is specifically built for children. The laptop, for N150instance, has matte, non-reflective display that would ‘protect a child’s sensitive eyes’. So far, so good.

Specs-wise, the kid version isn’t different from the regular version. It has the same hardware plus a suite of software for children.

Netbooks have always been kid-friendly. They are lightweight and small so that kids can carry them around easily. And since most netbooks don’t have full-sized keyboards, having tiny fingers is actually an advantage and not a disadvantage. A few PC makers have, nevertheless, released netbook versions specifically targeted at children. Asus, for instance, released a Disney-themed netbook last year. Dell has also released a Nickelodeon themed netbook for kids. Now Samsung is the latest to join the fray.
