The Asus Eee PC 1005PR Seashell netbook is expected to start shipping anytime now. Amazon’s product page says that stock is coming, but according to Asus the netbook has started shipping.

The Eee PC 1005PR is a 10.1 inch netbook with an Intel Atom N450 processor, 250GB hard drive, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and Broadcom Crystal HD Video accelerator. The 10.1 inch display features 1366 x 768 pixels. The battery is expected to power the laptop for up to 11 hours. The base model sells for $399.99.

The Asus Eee PC 1005PR has exactly the same looks as the Eee PC 1005PE. But while the 1005PE has a regular display with 1024 x 600 pixels, the 1005PR has an HD display with 1366 x 768 pixels. What is more, the Eee PC 1005PR comes pre-loaded with a built-in Broadcom HD video accelerator which will give it enough power to handle HD video playback.

The Eee PC 1005PR was unveiled in early March. The netbook is now available for pre-order from Amazon and B&H. Both retailers sell the machine for about $400.

Here’s a rundown of the specs:

Asus has uploaded the official product page of its Eee PC 1005PR. The 1005PR is the first 10 inch Asus netbook to sport an HD display with 1366 x 768 pixels. The detailed specifications are as follows:

Graphics: GMA 3150 + Broadcom BCM 70015 HD video accelerator
Processor: 1.66 GHz Intel Atom Pine Trail N450 CPU
Operating System: Windows 7 Starter Edition
Memory: 1GB (expandable to 2GB)
Storage: 250GB Hard drive (plus 500GB Asus WebStorage)

Other features include WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and Ethernet. There are 3 USB ports, an SDHC card slot, VGA output, headphone and mic jacks. The netbook ships with a 6-cell battery which is available in two models – 48Whr and 63Whr.

In looks the Eee PC 1005PR isn’t much different from the Eee PC 1005PE. In fact, the only major differences between the two models are the HD display and Broadcom Crystal HD Video Accelerator found on 1005PR.

No word on pricing yet, but the netbook is expected to start shipping in April.

Asus has unveiled what appears to be an updated version of the Eee PC 1005PE. The new model dubbed Eee PC 1005PR has an HD display featuring 1366 x 768 pixels. The 1005PE has a 10.1 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixels.

Other than the HD display, the Eee PC 1005PR has the same specs as the 1005PE. Both netbooks have Intel Atom N450 processors, GMA 3150 graphics, 1GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. Other specifications include Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11b/g/n.

The Eee PC 1005PR is available with both 48Whr and 63Whr battery options. No word on pricing or availability.
