Best Buy has announced that it will be the exclusive seller of the WiFi-only version of the HTC Flyer tablet. Sprint has already announced that it will be selling a 4G capable version of the tablet under the name HTC Evo View 4G.

The HTC Flyer has a 7 inch capacitive multitouch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The display will recognise both finger and stylus input. The tablet is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Other specifications include a 5MP rear camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, 16GB of storage, a 4000mAh battery and dual microphones with noise reduction technology. The WiFi-only model will not support mobile broadband, but it will have Bluetooth capabilities.

The HTC Flyer Tablet is due out this spring. No word on pricing at the moment.

The 7 inch BlackBerry Playbook with 16GB of storage is now up for pre-order at Best Buy and Future Shop for $499.99. Other retailers including Staples, Office Depot and RadioShack should start taking pre-orders sometime soon. US wireless carriers like AT&T, Sprint and Verizon will also carry the tablet.

The 32GB WiFi only model is priced at $599.99 while the 64GB WiFi only model has a price tag of $699. Best Buy Canada has also started taking pre-orders for the tablet. Shipping will start on April 19th.

The BlackBerry PlayBook has a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It is more portable than competing tablets like the Notion Ink Adam or Motorola Xoom, thanks to its smaller display.

The PlayBook has a 1GHz dual core processor and runs BlackBerry Tablet OS with support for multiprocessing. It has two cameras – a 3 megapixel camera on the front side and a 5 megapixel camera on the rear side. Other specifications include 1GB of RAM, up to 64GB of internal storage, HDMI, Accelerometer, 6-Axis Motion Sensor, GPS, Digital Compass, Stereo speakers, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.

Best Buy uploaded a product listing for the upcoming Motorola Xoom Android tablet yesterday. And believe it or not, the listing suggested that the tablet would be available in-stores for a hefty $1199.99. Ridiculous, right? Ya, although Xoom is a decent tablet it just doesn’t have anything particularly impressive about it to command such a premium price tag. By the way, that listing has been removed, and Engadget reports that it was just a placeholder. You may heave a sigh of relief now.

Like the Samsung Galaxy Tab II, the Motorola Xoom also has a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It runs Android 3.0 operating system and has a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor. Other specifications include a 5 megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM, a 32GB solid state drive, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth and 3G.

The Motorola Xoom is expected to be up for pre-order on February 17th. If it does happen, then we will not have to wait too long to get the pricing details.

The rumors that the Motorola Xoom Android tablet will launch at Best Buy on February 24th has gained more credibility, courtesy of a Best Buy ad. As per the details shown in the flier, the Motorola Xoom is tipped to have a February 24th launch and a steep $799.99 price tag. That price seems to be in line with a previous leak from Verizon.

One of the most anticipated Android tablets of the year, the Motorola Xoom runs Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb operating system. It has a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, a 10.1 inch HD widescreen display, 1GB of RAM and two cameras – a 2 megapixel camera on the front side and a 5 megapixel camera on the rear side with 720p video recording capabilities. The tablet will connect to Verizon’s HSPA+ network.

The Best Buy ad also offers some glimpses into the data tariffs. The $20 per month plan has a bandwidth cap of 1GB. For $80 you will get up to 10GB of data.

At launch the Motorola Xoom will not have 4G. It is not clear what the 4G version will cost. It is also not clear whether Verizon will subsidize the tablet. Meanwhile Motorola’s official Xoom portal has gone live.

Best Buy has unintentionally leaked the release date for the Motorola Xoom Android tablet. The Facebook Page for the Grand Rapids Best Buy showed a list of release dates for many upcoming gadgets including the iPhone 4, HTC Thunderbolt and Motorola Xoom. The Motorola Xoom was tipped to have a February 24 release date. That list is still there, but Motorola Xoom has been removed from it. Interestingly Motorola is yet to officially announce a launch date for the Xoom tablet which will launch with Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb operating system. Earlier reports had, however, suggested that the tablet could launch this month.

So will Xoom launch on February 24th? Well, it is too early to predict. The listing was probably based on an estimate. It is also possible that somebody posted a confirmed launch date without checking whether that information was ready for prime time.
