HP had almost retired its Mini 110 netbook earlier this year after releasing the HP Mini 210. The new model has better looks. It has a 6-cell battery that sits flush with the base of the laptop and a Pine Trail Atom processor. The HP Mini 110, on the other hand, had a bulky battery that would stick out of its base. It also had a first generation Intel Atom processor.

HP.com

But it now it looks like HP is eager to bring the Mini 110 back. The netbook is back at the HP website with minor updates. The new HP Mini 110 looks more like netbooks in the 210 series. It has a 10.1 inch matte display with 1024 x 600 pixels. It is available with your choice of a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 or 1.83GHz Intel Atom N475 single core processor. Other specifications include 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB or 250GB hard drive and 802.11b/g/n WiFi.

The netbook comes standard with a 6-cell battery which should power the machine for up to 9 hours. It runs Windows XP Home or Windows 7 Starter Edition. Optional features include Bluetooth and 3G.

The new HP Mini 110 starts at $280.

HP has uploaded the customization and order page for its Mini 2102 laptop. The base model with FreeDos or SUSE Linux and a 3-cell battery costs $447. If you need better specs at a more affordable price you had better wait a few more days. HP is expected to add one or two ‘Smart Buy’ options with Windows 7 in a few days. The Smart Buy options will have a lower price, but they may not offer as much customization possibilities.

The HP Mini 2102 has a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, GMA 3150 graphics and a 10.1 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixels. The netbook offers the following customization possibilities.

Operating System: Windows 7 Starter/Win 7 Pro/Win XP Pro/SUSE Linux 11/FreeDOS
Memory: 1GB/2GB of RAM
Storage: 160GB/250GB/320GB 7200 RPM hard drive
Wireless connectivity: 802.11b/g/802.11a/b/g/n/optional Bluetooth
Battery: 3 cell, 28Whr/6 cell, 62Whr

The HP Mini 2102 is basically the same laptop as the Mini 210. The only difference between the two models is that while the Mini 210 is marketed by HP’s consumer division, the Mini 2102 is sold through HP’s business division. When you buy a laptop through HP’s business division you get more customization options. On the flip side, laptops sold through the business division generally tend to cost more than those sold through the consumer division.
