Lenovo has uploaded a video to YouTube promoting a netbook that has not been officially announced—the IdeaPad S110, the “mini-notebook.” The video briefly lists some of the specs, but there is no mention of the processor. Rumors suggest that it will sport an Intel Atom N2600 Cedar Trail processor.

As with all netbooks, the Lenovo Ideapad S110 is highly portable, weighing in at 2.5 pounds. The video also states that with the Lenovo “instant on” capability, you can be online in a matter of seconds. The keyboard is almost the equivalent to a full-sized keyboard (98 percent), and the device itself is only 16 mm thick.

With an extended battery life and optional colors, this little cutie will surely breathe some new life into the netbook market (despite the fact that it seems Lenovo has dropped the “netbook” moniker from its name).

Lenovo, Acer, and Asus are some of the companies that have not given up on this type of portable computer. Without a doubt, the deluge of tablets onto the scene has bitten into the sale of netbooks. However, tablets have not (and may not) fully bridge the gap between the PC and the laptop.

As the promotional video tries to portray, there is a portability to netbooks that can rival that of a tablet, and given the versatility of the operating system, it still has something different to offer. Something that, despite all the hype and the fanfare, tablets still do not provide.

Lenovo Unveils the IdeaPad U300s

Lenovo’s IdeaPad U300s is an ultrabook that was launched at the 2011 Computex event in Taipei. Lenovo is creating remarkable products, always something “out of the box” and truly unique. This is the case of the U300s Ultrabook.

This ultrabook has a unibody aluminum case. Despite its small size, it gives a feeling of strength and robustness. For the U300s, weight is not an issue. The device can be held in one hand while the other can easily use the keyboard or touchpad.

U300s’s trackpad is a delight. It integrates the click function and offers a generous surface (approximately 10.5 x 7 cm), which can be used with multi-touch gestures for various functions (scrolling, zooming, navigation, right-click, etc.). The U300s is factory-equipped with a TN panel display. Made of CMO, the display offers a resolution up to 1366 x 768.

The ultrabook is based on SRS Surround Premium Sound, the two speakers being hidden under the keyboard. This offers a stereo sound quality slightly above average. It also offers an exceptional battery life of up seven hours (depending on configurations).

U300s have an Intel Core i5 2457M, 1600 Mhz processor, Windows 7 Home Premium OS, 4096 MB of RAM, 128 GB SSD, an Intel HD Graphics 3000 board, as well as USB 2.0, 3.0, and HDMI ports.

The Lenovo U300s impresses both in design and performance. And with it’s a sticker price starting at approximately $1095, it is a strong contender in the ultrabook market.

Lenovo reintroduced its IdeaPad U1 Hybrid at CES today. The U1 Hybrid has two parts – a tablet called LePad and a keyboard / docking station with its own processor, storage and battery. When you dock the tablet, the device will work like a typical laptop. When it is undocked, it works like a standalone tablet.

The LePad now runs Android. When Lenovo introduced the Hybrid last year, the tablet part was running Lenovo Skylight operating system. In the laptop mode it continues to run Windows 7. Another change is in the screen size. While the U1 Hybrid had an 11.6 inch display last year it now sports a 10.1 inch display.
The LePad tablet is powered by a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It also has 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The U1 Hybrid has 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and a 1.2GHz Intel Core i5-540UM CULV processor.

Pricing and availability
Lenovo will sell the LePad as a standalone tablet in China for about $520. The U1 Hybrid will run about $1300.
