Intel to launch the second generation Sandy Bridge processors at CES

Intel will launch the next generation of Sandy Bridge processors at CES in early 2011. The Intel Sandy Bridge processor platform currently consists of the three Core series processors – Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7. The second generation of Intel Core processors will obviously be faster than the existing Core series processors. They will reportedly also feature technologies that enhance ‘visual life’.

Our guess is that at CES we will also get to hear a number of Sandy Bridge laptop announcements.

Alienware M11x gets Nvidia Optimus and Core i3, i5, i7 processors

The Alienware M11x gaming notebook is now available with Intel’s Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors. What’s more, the notebook has also got NVIDIA’s Optimus technology that would automatically switch between the integrated and discrete graphics options depending upon what task you are performing.

The updated models are yet to make an appearance on Dell’s US website, but if you happen to live in Malaysia or the UK you should be able to place your order now.

Intel to launch Core i3 ULV processors this quarter

According to a PC World report Intel will launch its Core i3 ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) processor this quarter. We already knew that Intel would launch its Core i5 ULV processor in June. The new 32nm processors are expected to reach laptops in the second half of this year. No word on pricing or availability.

The ULV version of the Core i3 and i5 processors are unlikely to offer the same performance as the standard voltage Core i3 and i5 processors, but they should get more battery life.
