The 15.6 inch Samsung R590 multimedia laptop is now available for purchase in the UK and Australia. The Samsung R590 is the successor to the R580 and sports more powerful specs.

The R590 is powered by an Intel Core i5-450M 2.4GHz processor with Nvidia GeForce GT330M discrete graphics with 1GB of dedicated video memory, 4GB of DDR3 memory and 500GB of hard disk space. The notebook also has a DVD burner, 1.3 megapixel webcam, WiFi 802.11n, Gigabit Ethernet, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 3.0, 3 USB ports, 1 eSATA/USB combo port, a 3-in-1 card reader, an ExpressCard slot, HDMI and VGA outputs. The 15.6 inch LED backlit display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

The Samsung R590-JS02 comes standard with a 6-cell battery. It weighs 4.8 pounds and runs Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

Pricing and availability
The Samsung R590 is now available from Amazon UK (R590-JS02UK) for £809 (about 1,247 USD) and JB HI-Fi (R590-JS02AU) for 1,298 AUD or about 1,152 USD. No word on pricing or availability in other countries.

LG is the latest PC maker to jump on to the 3D laptop bandwagon. The company has just introduced its first 3D laptop. The machine called LG R590 has a 15.6 inch display, Intel Core i7 processor with HM55 chipset and NVIDIA GeForce GT335M discrete graphics.

The LG R590 comes pre-loaded with the TriDef software for converting 2D content into 3D. Optional features include Blu-ray. No word on pricing or availability at the moment.
