Lenovo says that the company has sold sixty million ThinkPads to date. Actually, Lenovo claims that 14 ThinkPad laptops are sold every 60 seconds. And to celebrate the achievement, Lenovo has decided to upgrade its ThinkPad T series. Starting today, the T410, T410s and T510 will be available with a NVIDIA NVS 3100M discrete graphics option with Optimus technology. All T series laptops are available with Core i5 processor options and a selection of storage options – hard drives / SSDs.

Lenovo demoed the ThinkPad T410s at an event in New York City recently. While the T410s is not the only laptop to feature the Optimus technology, it definitely is the first laptop capable of running both the integrated IGP and discrete NVIDIA GPU simultaneously. What’s more, it can power three external monitors as well as the notebooks LCD simultaneously.

The T410 and T510 will start at $1,299 whereas the thinner T410s will have a starting price of $1,849.

Lenovo plans to discontinue the 13 inch ThinkPad X301 and replace it with the 14 inch T410s by the end of this year. Apparently the company thinks that the T400 series can offer more powerful CPU and graphics at a similar level of portability but much lower price.

And that is true. There is a difference of around $980 between the T410s and the X301 base models.

Lenovo introduced at least half a dozen new laptops in the days leading up to and after CES. Leading the pack is the ultra-thin 13.3 inch ThinkPad Edge. This machine sports a dual core processor and runs Windows 7. Other features include Bluetooth, WiMAX, integrated WWAN/GPS and Wi-Fi. There are 3 USB ports, a 5-in-1 card reader and a spill resistant keyboard. And in case you are particular you may also get the machine coated in a red paint.

The Other notebooks include the ThinkPad x100e with an 11.6 inch display and an AMD processor. The rest of the notebooks are called T410, T410s, T510 and W510.
